To promote smart tourism and sustainable travel, the Taitung County Government collaborated with the Taitung Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency (Ministry of Agriculture) to launch the “Exploring Liyu for Gold, Forest Life on the Trail” digital stamp-collecting event on December 6 at the Liyu Mountain Trail in Taitung City. The event was attended by County Magistrate April Yao, Legislator Chen Ying, Councilor Chien Wei-kuo, Wu Chang-yu from the Taitung Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, Taitung City Mayor Chen Ming-feng, and other distinguished guests.

County Magistrate April Yao noted that by integrating the county government’s TTPush app, hiking activities are upgraded into a “digital treasure hunt.” Participants can use mobile phone positioning to collect digital stamps, complete interactive challenges, and earn gold coin rewards. This creates a new smart tourism experience that combines education and entertainment. The public and visitors are also encouraged to hike Liyu Mountain to enjoy panoramic views of Taitung City, Green Island, and Orchid Island.

Magistrate Yao further pointed out that in recent years, the county government has actively promoted smart city initiatives and digital services, with the core goal of “making technology a new medium that connects local tourism.” These efforts not only encourage people to get closer to nature and learn about environmental conservation, but also attract young people and families through “gamified design,” allowing forest and environmental education to become an engaging part of everyday life.

The event attracted over one thousand participants on the day it was held. Many families hiked together and experienced the location-based digital stamp tasks while enjoying the ecological beauty of Liyu Mountain and panoramic city views along the route. The county government also specially invited the local group Hehe Music Exercise Health Association to lead professional warm-up exercises, reminding all participants to warm up thoroughly before hiking and to pay attention to personal safety and health conditions.

Lee Su-chin, Director of the International Development and Planning Department, stated that since its launch, the TTPush platform has become an important tool in residents’ daily lives. By integrating tourism notifications and marketing missions, it has achieved notable results. In the future, this model will be expanded to popular routes such as Zhiben Forest Recreation Area and Dulan Mountain Trail, gradually establishing a “smart trail tourism network” in Taitung and promoting the city as a model that combines natural ecology with digital technology.

The “Exploring Liyu for Gold, Forest Life on the Trail” event runs from now until December 28. Members of the public are welcome to download the TTPush app to experience the fun of digital stamp collecting and to support the development of sustainable tourism through action.
