Taitung: A Surfer’s Paradise
Taitung is a surfer’s paradise where the wind, currents and terrain are perfectly suited for the breaking waves surfers so crave. With mixed terrain from pebbled to sandy beaches, reefs, and everything in between, Taitung offers a variety of landscapes and wave patterns, making it the ideal region for surfing in Taiwan.
Specifically, the stretch from Donghe to Changbin, boasts a flat seabed and gentle waves, thanks to the continental shelf which extends 50 to 60 meters into the ocean, making this coastline highly suitable for surfers of all levels.

Best Surfing Seasons
Located in a lower latitude area, Taitung is influenced by the northeast monsoons in fall and winter, which encourage the waves. The waves are the most beautiful at this time of year, making it the perfect time for surfing.
