Due to the immense dark beefwood trees along the trail, Taitung Forest Park is nicknamed “Black Forest”. The trees are there to reducing wind damage and provides shade from the summer heat. The bike trails wind around the three lakes in Taitung Forest Park: Pipa Lake, Huoshui Lake and Yuanyang.
