April Yao
Taitung County Magistrate
Currently serving a second elected term as Taitung county magistrate, Yao was previously the first female speaker of the Taitung County Council, and possesses 17 years of public service experience cultivating the Taitung spirit and facilitating the pursuit of a good life for Taitung’s citizens.
Vision
- Unleash the vibrant spirit of Taitung by implementing policy objectives in six major areas of industry, infrastructure, technology, arts, social welfare, and indigenous culture.
- Effectively address residents’ issues by employing an approach of “openness, integration, and innovation” and adhering to the core principle of “slow economy, efficient government,” creating a livable, business-friendly, and tourist-friendly Taitung.
- Deepen the impact of the “slow economy” and in so doing foster a greater sense of love and appreciation for the land, culture and life among Taitung residents.
- Transform Taitung into the cultural capital of the Austronesians, thereby allowing Taitung’s arts and culture to shine on the international stage.
