Provincial Highway 11 , parallel along the east coast, runs through the eastern Taiwan. With gorgeous mountains on one side and blue sea on the other side, the highway features many attractions on the way. One of the famous scenic spots is the well-known ocean view, which shows different colors as the weather changes. With the splendid coastline, spectacular landscapes, unique art and culture, and a range of water sports and adventures to choose from, Taiwan’s East Coast attracts visitors over and over again. It offers a distinctive experience to everyone.
There is a hidden gem along Taitung’s coast that is surrounded by breathtaking views of mountains and waters. Douli Beach, formerly known as Pacefongan, sits within the Amis’ sea area.
Douli Beach has a lovely nickname, Taitung’s “mirror of the sky.” The unique black sand beach appears to shimmer under the sun and the reflection of the sky on the beach is beyond magical. If you wish to catch this amazing reflection of the sky on the beach, you must come to Douli Beach at low tide on a day without wind or waves when the water is steady and still. The shallow waters become a mirror that reflects the blue skies and rolling clouds. The image is truly stunning as you will appear to be walking along the skies in this mystical wonderland. Besides snapping some Insta-worthy photos, you can partake in surfing, yoga, and sun tanning on the beach. There is also a station to rinse off near the entrance so you can enjoy the sandy beach to your heart’s content. Take a short vacation to Taitung this summer and enjoy being immersed in the mountains and oceans!
Gentle Reminder: Guests can look up the time of the tides before coming and plan on arriving one hour before low tides. The best timing for pictures is while there is still water on the beach. The spot is close to the Douli Tribe, and the beach is within the Amis people’s sea area. Please ‘Keep Trash off the Ground’ and help protect the environment.
