Nanliao Harbor was built in 1953. As Green Island is located on the Kuroshio Current where migratory fishes flock, the Nanliao Harbor became an important port for the fishing industry. As the finishing industry declined, Nanliao Harbor was successfully converted into a famous tourism harbor on Green Island and remains the most important transportation hub for the island. Passengers can ride a ferry to Green Island from the Taitung Fugang Fishery Harbor. The Nanliao Harbor is the only ferry terminal on Green Island. There are scooter and bicycle rental vendors nearby offering convenient transportation for passengers to explore the island.
You’ll find Nanliao Street beside the Nanliao Harbor. This commercial street extends outwards from the Harbor. The majority of the island’s B&Bs, restaurants, and grocery stores are located here. Passengers can shop for an assortment of Green Island souvenirs and foods here, and the street is always busy on holidays. In addition, Nanliao Harbor is also the perfect location for snorkeling. The stunning coral reef and underwater ecosystem, paired with the stable currents, have won this location the name “Underwater Park.” You wouldn’t want to miss out!
