If you’re visiting Taimali Township, make sure not to miss La Laolan Millet Workshop located in New Xianglan Village. La Laolan is the name of the Paiwanese Tribe that the restaurant is in. The meaning of the name is rich land. The restaurant is devoted to sharing the tribal culture, providing Paiwanese meals with millet as the main theme. They also use tribal ingredients including red quinoa, catjang pea, prickly ash, to develop new recipes. The set meals offered here each have their own unique qualities. The millet wine roast meat meal is infused with the sweetness of millet wine. Roselle pork cutlet combines the salty pork chop with the sweet and tangy pickled roselle. The spicy and fragrant prickly ash chicken will make you come back for more. Besides the set meals, another hot item on the menu is the award-winning millet rice dumpling. The yellowish-orange millet rice is chewy and the rice dumpling is filled with juicy and salty pork. Other tribal snacks that you should try out include the fried wild greens platter and red quinoa banana pound cake. (Photo Credit:IG@ieat_n_travel)
