The best feeling on a hot summer day is to soak yourself in the nice cool pool of water. Don’t miss out on what has been named “Orchid Island’s natural play pool,” Yeyin Cold Springs. There are only two places in the world with natural cold springs, one in Italy, and the other in Taiwan. The rich underground spring water meets rock formations that produce carbon dioxide, causing the water temperature to drop drastically. The water from the Yeyin Cold Springs comes from the hills of Orchid Island and collects at the lower point in Yeyin Tribal Village. The pooled water is then surrounded by reefs, forming a natural cold spring pool.
The water at the Yeyin Cold Spring is crystal clear, and the bottom of the spring is covered in soft white sand. The sunlight shimmers on the spring mixed with seawater, refracting different shades of Orchid Island blue, forming a stunning view. Visitors swim and play among the coral reefs and can even spot tropical fish, crabs, eel, and more amazing ocean life. (Gentle reminder: the reef shore of Yeyin Cold Springs is bumpy and rigid, and parts of the reef stones surrounding the spring are sharp. Please wear sports shoes to prevent injury.
