Join us on Green Island for the Historic Mountain Trail Scavenger Hunt

What’s the first thing that you think of when visiting Green Island? Is it the Green Island serenade, Asahi Hot Spring, the diverse sea life, or scuba diving? Did you know that the Historic Mountain Trail on Green Island is home to a rich ecosystem and many stunning sights? The Historic Mountain Trail is now the best way to experience and explore Green Island. The East Coast National Scenic Area, Tourism Bureau (ECNSA) invites friends from all around to get to know this treasure chest through the Historic Mountain Trail Scavenger Hunt event. Come and try to spot all the fun hidden gems.

The Historic Mountain Trail is a 1.85 Km cultural trail that connects Amei Mountain and Huoshao Mountain. The course takes around 100 minutes to complete. Walk through the stone-laid mountain path and you’ll find all kinds of native plants, such as the Ardisia elliptica, Kawakami Excoecaria, Common Melastoma, Rhodomyrtus tomentosa, and more. You might also encounter giant woods spiders, Tree nymph butterflies, Eupyrgops waltonianus, Swinhoe’s tree lizards, and more. During the evenings, you may see swarms of fireflies blinking in the woods. If you’re lucky, you might even bump into a wild sika deer.

Still looking for more adventure after the hike? Why not partake in the beach clean-up? The beach clean-up is an ongoing event. Anyone can participate and there’s no limit to party size, date, or time. You can even do it all by yourself. If you’re visiting during the right time, you might even bump into the “protect the crabs” event that happens four times each year. This year, the events will take place on June 15th, July 15th, August 15th, and September 9th. Come help mommy crabs cross the roads so they can safely arrive on the beach to release their young.

You can participate in the Historic Mountain Trail Scavenger Hunt by making a reservation. The reservations are available from now until the end of October. Please remember to make your reservations 3 days before your trip. The ECNSA will arrange a guide to help guests get to know the local ecosystem. There is a minimum requirement of 5 participants, and no cap to the group size. If the party isn’t large enough, the ECNSA will help facilitate combining groups. A maximum of 2 groups each day can be held. Please call 089-672026#2104 to make a reservation, or check our fan page for more information.
