South Link Line
After departing from Taitung, you can keep heading south along Provincial Highway No.9 and join the South Link Highway, going through Taimali Township, Jinfeng Township, Dawu Township, and Daren Township. On the road trip, travelers can enjoy the charming view of Coastal Ridge on one side and broad Pacific Ocean on the other. The whole trip presents many cultural and natural attractions to tourists from all over the world.
Originally named Taimali Railroad Crossing, this location is only a 10-minute walk from the Taimali Train Station. You’ll be able to view the stunning Pacific Ocean horizon on one side and see the emerald green rolling hills on the other. It looks like any normal railroad crossing, right? Take a closer look and you might think the scene looks familiar. Besides the railroad crossing with the ocean horizon’s background, the crosswalk’s signals and gates all replicate the opening scene of “Slam Dunk” perfectly! Many manga fanatics have been drawn to this location to mimic the hero and heroine’s famous wave to relive their childhood memories. The crossing has even been named “Sakuragi Railroad Crossing” and “Taiwanese Slam Dunk Railroad Crossing.”
Friendly Reminder: There is no room for parking on the narrow roads nearby. We suggest parking your vehicles at the Taimali Train Station and walking to Taimali Railroad Crossing. Please be aware of traffic safety, do not stand on the crosswalk or traffic lanes while taking pictures. When there are larger crowds, for your safety, refrain from pushing or shoving when the trains pass.
