Hipster Day Trip in Chishang—Guide to Good Views and Good Food
The humble countryside atmosphere, lovely views, and slow-paced living are what many yearn for in Chishang. Follow our itinerary for a culture-filled hipster day trip through town.

The best way to experience Chishang is a morning bike ride through the fields. Start downtown and ride about 10 minutes to the rice paddies. Arrive between 6 and 7 AM for a fresh breeze, clouded mountains, and endless golden paddies, with only a few farmers around — the real way to experience simple farming life.(Photo credit: IG@miho136)

Even Chishang’s simplest breakfast shop has history. Dachi Tofu, on a small country road, has made soy products the traditional way for five decades, drawing lines from around 8 AM until it sells out. The short menu — tofu skin, soy milk, soy pudding, kimchi — is led by the crispy pan-fried tofu skin.(Photo credit: IG@qqbiggreen1029)

Chishang rice is so famous that vendors nationwide use the “Chishang Lunch Box” name, but for the authentic version visit The Origin’s Wu-tao Chishang Lunch Box Cultural Story Museum.
