Gaze to the east and you’ll see the stunning Iranmeylek Bay and the traditional underground homes of Yeyin Village. Look south for a breathtaking view of the green mountains and forest. To the west lies the endless blue expanse of Badai Bay. Come and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of this stunning location.
Other than enjoying the scenery, take this opportunity to learn about the historic building. The Lanyu Weather Station is an important weather-predicting institution on Lanyu Island. Built in 1940, it has been in service to this day. The building was listed as a historic site of Taitung County in 2005, and you can still see the bullet tracks left behind from World War II. Located on the southern end of Orchid Island, the Lanyu Weather Station plays a vital role in typhoon predictions. It provides daily surface and marine weather forecasts, as well as earthquake predictions. Whether you enjoy the lovely natural scenes or immersing yourself in the historic atmosphere, the Lanyu Weather Station is a beautiful site worth visiting. (Photo credit: Taitung County Government)
