Taitung Expo 2026 will take place from July 3 to August 20. Centered on four core values, the slow economy, Taitung Blue, sustainable development, and Austronesian culture, the expo adopts “SLOW FOR LIFE” as its theme. Together, these ideas express Taitung’s vision for a future shaped by cultural depth, everyday aesthetics, and sustainable development.
The Taitung County Government stated that the expo’s main venue will be located at Taitung County Gymnasium. With the Central Taitung District serving as its core, the event will extend across the city and throughout the county, creating a citywide curatorial model in which all of Taitung becomes part of the exhibition. The program includes nine major exhibition areas, 23 official themed exhibitions, 22 community participation projects, 14 local event brands, and more than 200 limited-time events. Through exhibitions, cultural experiences, artistic performances, and city walks, the expo invites visitors from Taiwan and abroad to discover Taitung’s culture, natural environment, and everyday life, while experiencing the future envisioned through the slow economy.
The Cultural Affairs Department of the Taitung County Government noted that Taitung Expo is more than a cultural exhibition. It is also a practical initiative bringing together urban governance, cultural tourism, and international exchange. To improve the visitor experience for both domestic and international guests, and in support of the bilingual policy promoted by the National Development Council, the county government has worked with the National Development Council to introduce a range of multilingual visitor services. These services cover pre-event information, on-site guidance, and frontline reception, creating a more accessible environment for international visitors. Travelers from different countries can explore Taitung with ease, gain a deeper understanding of the exhibitions, and experience the city’s cultural soft power and growing international connections.
In addition to establishing an official Chinese and English website for Taitung Expo, the organizers have prepared comprehensive information on exhibitions, events, transportation, and visitor guidance. Chinese and English brochures are also available at nine Expo Information Centers, visitor information centers, and 200 information points, allowing visitors to access key details and plan their own itineraries.
The expo’s main venue, The Living School, is also equipped with a multilingual audio guide system. Visitors can simply scan the QR code in each exhibition area with their phones, without downloading an app, to listen to guides in Chinese, English, or Japanese. During the expo, bilingual reception training will also be provided for frontline service staff, while multilingual assistance will be available on site to improve reception quality and make visits more convenient for travelers, international media, and invited guests.
The Cultural Affairs Department of the Taitung County Government emphasized that Taitung Expo 2026 integrates multilingual services into both the event and public services, creating a citywide expo with cultural depth and international reception capacity. Building on this experience, the county government will gradually develop a sustainable multilingual service model that can serve as an important example for large-scale events, cultural programs, and bilingual public services. These efforts will continue to strengthen the Taitung brand and allow the world to discover the distinctive appeal of Taitung’s culture and slow way of life.
