The name Stone Party comes from the Amis word atolan, which means a pile of stones. The B&B aspires to be like a pile of stones—being in harmony with the beauty and nature of Dulan. The owner Jian-e Chen came to Dulan to film a documentary and fell in love with this simple and charming place. He bought the land and built a house incorporating the designs and elements that he loves into the architecture of the B&B.
Stone Party sits against the mountains facing the ocean. The building’s slanted designs strategically resolve issues that are caused by long exposure to the wind and sun. The B&B has 12 double guest rooms with twin or queen beds. Each room comes with a patio where guests can take in the blue rolling waves. The rooms also have independent entrances to ensure privacy for the guests. There are hanging ladders between the first and second floor that are covered in green vines, making the entire structure look as if it is floating from afar.
The space inside is elegant and comfortable, the marble floors and white walls create a slick and simple look. Upon entering, guests will be welcomed by a waft of wood fragrance from the wood furniture. Many of the pieces are handmade by the owner! The B&B also uses imported amenities matching luxurious hotels. Many of the owner’s art collections can be found on display in the lobby and basement of the B&B, including enamel paintings and clay tile art, filling the space with elegance and art.
