Perched halfway up Sige Mountain, Han She Tea House was the first tea house of its kind in Taitung. Since opening in 1991, it has become a favorite destination for locals and visitors looking to enjoy the night views, brew tea, and spend time in good company. The space is open and relaxed, offering a panoramic view of Taitung City. By day, it offers a sense of tranquility and closeness to nature; by night, the atmosphere shifts into something more calm, nostalgic, and slightly removed from the bustle of the city.
Beyond its selection of fine teas, the tea house also offers an array of beverages, snacks, and traditional home-style dishes. A standout feature of Han She is its extensive collection of early Taiwanese rural artifacts and Indigenous cultural items. Antique objects are displayed throughout the space, creating an environment that feels like stepping into a living archive of past memories.
The tea house stays open until 1 a.m. and is about an eight-minute drive from Taitung Railway Station. For travelers looking for a quiet place to unwind at night, it’s a worthwhile stop.
An English and Chinese bilingual menu is available, allowing international visitors to order with ease and enjoy a relaxed evening in Taitung. (Photo credit: @jowotw)
