Sakinu & Hanaku Café

A Dessert Cafe Infused with Local Ingredients and Cultural Memories

Established in 2023, Sakinu & Hanaku Café is a member of the South Link Sustainable Travel Alliance. The cafe was named in memory of the founder’s grandparents—Sakinu and Hanaku. The name “Sakahu” also echoes the Paiwan word “sanguaq,” meaning “beautiful” or “delicious.”

Using ingredients sourced from Indigenous areas in Taitung, the cafe crafts creative desserts and drinks such as macarons made with Taiwan quinoa, brownies featuring sweet potatoes and popped millet, and beverages like Taimali coffee, Luye red oolong tea, and Jinfeng roselle lemon drink—showcasing the diversity and creativity of local produce.

A bilingual Chinese-English menu is provided, making it easy for international visitors to order and savor these culturally rich, locally inspired desserts. (Photo credit: Sakinu & Hanaku Café )
