The South Link in Taitung boasts multiple beautiful sites. The most beautiful train station in Taiwan (Duoliang Station), the most beautiful highway (Southlink Highway), the most beautiful bridge (Jinlun Bridge) among others. The South Link Rest Stop is scheduled to open on September 16 and will become the most beautiful rest stop on the East Coast.
The South Link Rest Stop began construction in 2020. The County Government has invested over 400 million NTD in building this new landmark that all travelers commuting between Kaohsiung, Pingtung, and Taitung will be sure to pass by. The rest stop is expected to welcome over one million guests each year. The South Link Rest Stop is close to the Dawu Fishing Harbor. The rest stops structure design incorporates the fishing harbor’s view. The main structure’s design takes elements from a lighthouse and waves, the idea is to allow guests to take in the breathtaking and vast Pacific from the viewing platform.
The spacious ocean park offers a resting space, a shopping area, restaurants with a view, a tourist information center, bathrooms, and other facilities. The shopping area is over 170 square feet in size. Local fish produce and local specialties like Donghe Buns, Baifa Abais are all available for purchase at the shopping area. Tourists can taste a variety of Taitung local food and select gifts to bring home. The South Link Rest Stop offers parking for all types of vehicles. The parking lot will accommodate up to 78 scooters, 112 cars, 17 buses, and 32 bicycles. The parking lot also has a reserved space and outlets for electric vehicle charging stations.
