PROVINCIAL HIGHWAY NO.11
Provincial Highway 11 , parallel along the east coast, runs through the eastern Taiwan. With gorgeous mountains on one side and blue sea on the other side, the highway features many attractions on the way. One of the famous scenic spots is the well-known ocean view, which shows different colors as the weather changes. With the splendid coastline, spectacular landscapes, unique art and culture, and a range of water sports and adventures to choose from, Taiwan’s East Coast attracts visitors over and over again. It offers a distinctive experience to everyone.
Shanyuan Beach is about one kilometer long. It is located at the south end of Dulan and is called “fudafudak” in the Amis language, meaning sparkling bright. The ocean appears to be covered in a thin layer of gold during sunrises and sunsets, which has won it the beautiful name of “Taitung’s Golden Coast.” The beach is a mere 12 km away from Taitung City. The beach is on relatively flat land, has fine sand, clear waters, is suitable for swimming, surfing, and other activities, the County Government chose this location to be Taitung’s only beach resort. The beach was shut down due to the Taitung Miramar Resort case, but under the continued work of the government, the beach park is finally open to the public once more.
The wooden pathways and facilities of the Shanyuan Beach Park have been renovated. The bathrooms and shower stalls, lockers, and tribal thatched cottages are all in operation. Rope and buoys have been installed to mark a safe swimming zone, and lifeguards will be on duty during operating hours to provide a safe environment for the guests. In the future, Shanyuan Beach Park will integrate the Fushan Fisheries Resources Conservation Area to expand the reserve and ecological education area so that tourists can enjoy the space while learning to protect the environment.
(Gentle reminder: to follow the CDC’s Level 2 COVID restrictions, the visitor numbers will be limited to 500 a day.
