Taiwan’s Largest Ocean Sports Event – 2021 Taiwan Open of Surfing
Besides being covered with beautiful scenery, Taitung’s coastline is also known for its amazing waves. Taitung has Taiwan’s longest coastline, spanning a total of 176 km. Taitung’s vast expanses of open ocean and accommodating seafloor produce amazing, consistent waves at a variety of different surf spots. The Asian Surfing Championship (ASC) and World Surf League (WSL) have put Taitung on the map by making Taitung one of their newest locations for competitive surfing.
In Taitung, fall and winter are when expert surfers get geared up for competition! The seasonal northeastern wind brings in great waves that draw surfers from around the world. The annual Taiwan Open of Surfing takes advantage of these ideal conditions to host a competition for all these amazing surfers.
